WHO WE ARE

The Guardians of the Gray Masters Foundation-Ghana, is a private Humanitarian Foundation aimed at protecting the civil rights of and providing support to the elderly people who are abandoned, discriminated against or victims of elder abuse situations.

A sub-aim of the foundation is to provide Humanitarian Aid where it can during a crisis. We strongly believe that aged persons are vulnerable citizens in our communities, whom we look up to as leaders, mentors and guardians, and that we owe it a duty to protect, provide and shelter them if the need arises.

OUR OBJECTIVES

The Guardians of the Gray Masters Foundation-Ghana is a private non-profit Humanitarian foundation whose objectives are as follows;

To provide support to maltreated, marginalised or Abandoned Elders
To raise the voice of awareness of Elder-Abused cases in the Ghanaian communities.
To work towards uplifting the status of the aged in society; thus, ensuring the preservation and enhancement of the dignity and self-worth of aged persons by shedding public light on their plight and working to raise voice against the victimization of elders by anybody in the society.
To create training / education and awareness creation programs and health centres for Nannies, Care-takers and any other persons entrusted with a duty to take care of an aged person at home.
To work for uplifting poor rural/ village elderly people from the shackles of stigma and harmful stereotypes obstructing their all-round development.
To create the means for providing psychological and medical assistance to the aged suffering from severe abuse cases and other forms of violence.
To provide help to aged persons suffering from natural calamities such as floods, earthquakes, rail road accidents etc.
To organize Blood donation camp and medical diagnostic camp etc for such aged persons.
To publish newspaper, magazine, journals etc, with all geared towards the fight against abuse of the aged.

AIMS OF THE FOUNDATION

To organize religious camps for spreading the good living habits, moral values, Ghanaian culture, methods of developing a harmonious family reunion.
To provide free legal advice to aged people living in poor/rural communities in cases of abuse or any crisis.
To raise funds with the purpose of promoting the attainment of aims and objectives of the Guardians of the Gray Masters Foundation-Ghana.
To do such other work which may be for the general welfare of the aged people.
Finally, we aim high in the nearest future to accomplish the construction of a social centre that can accommodate a wide range of older persons during the WORLD DAY ELDER ABUSE awareness conference/ seminar.

OUR VISION

We are committed to creating a future where caregiving is respected and recognized as
a profession.
We will increase public awareness of the value of training to influence public policy and save our health care system from being overburdened

WHAT WE DO
We train Home Caregivers or Homeowners to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to provide quality care for an elderly or child in the home (in-home and nursing homes.

RISK OF HIRING AN UNTRAINED CAREGIVER
• Cannot recognize red-flags
• Unfriendly and rude behavior
• No skills in emergency response
• Limited knowledge in nutritious meals
• No trained skill in handling mobility in the elderly
• Little or no knowledge about drugs and it’s administration can cause complications or death
